hey Chris i found your website and info on headlamps to be useful - but i just need one or 2 for my emergency power outage bag - one that allows me to walk around the house and w/ red light so that i can read. mine is an old princeton tec - and i don't think it has red light.

i'm also looking to purchase a couple of battery powered lanterns again in preparation for the power outages that come w/ hurricane season - so if you have any thoughts i'd welcome them.

Howdy,
Apparently, your recommendations are pretty popular and well read. I'm finding that many of the items are "out of stock- unavailable" I found all of the Fenix products are not available in headlight and flashlights. (The top rated products.) Just wanted you to know that there are a lot of sold out links in a variety of areas. I have tracked back to the manufacturer on some items ( eg: SPAX) and found other outlets than Amazon. Just an FYI.
That said, I still love the site and the good info you share. Thanks!

I have a Dorcy 200 Lumen Pro series light on my Bullard S&R helmet... and I love it. The light has 3 settings (L,M,H), and can be removed from the headstrap and used as a magnetic backed hand light. IPX4 rated and I've had the same batteries in it for months and it still will blind you if you look directly into the beam. Very durable with an excellent retaining strap. Reasonably priced... check it out. You won't be sorry.
