I’ve just tried this method in our new firebox (much to my husbands dismay ). It worked quite well, however what do you do when it’s down to the bottom logs and you’re wanting to keep the fire going when you go to bed? With a normal fire you’d just plonk some big logs on top, but then it’s not an upside down fire anymore. Would we just have to wait until it’s completely out and then rebuild and light the whole thing again?

This makes a super, long-lasting, self-feeding fire. I now make all my fires this way. It works great in my cast-iron chimenea. The cotton ball swiped in the Vasoline jar is the best fire starter, ever.

In reply to <a href="https://www.thebugoutbagguide.com/upside-down-fire/#comment-20868">John Mendoza</a>.

Hi John,
Thanks for visiting the site and I am glad to hear the article was helpful to you. As for being new to the prepper lifestyle, it is never too late to learn to be prepared so welcome!

If you would like to share the article you can do 2 things:
1. Copy and paste the url into an email, Facebook, etc and send it to your friends and family, here it is: https://www.thebugoutbagguide.com/upside-down-fire/
2. Or you can click on the Share Bar on the left hand of the screen, there is a button there that looks like an envelope, click on it and it will open up your mail program with a new mail that contains a link to the article. Simply enter the recipient's email address as you normally would and send it off!

Thanks again and have a good day.
