I am fit & have great situational awareness, probably because I have raised a child with a long-term disability.
I would LOVE to hear the recommendations for someone like me who has an able-bodied 24 yr old son Yet he has cognitive disabilities (mainly in the area of :naivety). He is not as physically adept if we had to escape an emergency situation.

Therefore, Home defense is my priority.

You are correct, the “Gray Man” would not be practical for the SHTF scenario because everyone will be looking for any edge that can be gained to survive, regardless of whether you look tactical or casual. However, the “Gray Man” is not for the SHTF scenario, it is for the time leading up to SHTF. For example, the apocalypse or SHTF is the worst of the worst, but what about the events that lead up to causing this? It will be a steady progression of events of increasing difficulty/intensity that lead to such circumstances, not a sudden and incredible change of the world (most likely, its more likely to be a political thing, not say a zombie apocalypse style event) and that is the area in which the “Gray Man” is useful. It is for a time such as now honestly, its not quite apocalypse, but slowly becoming that. That is when the time for blending in and not drawing attention to yourself is important. So yes, you are correct, the “Gray Man” actions would not work in total SHTF, but that’s because they aren’t designed to (although blending in nd not getting found is helpful regardless of what the state of nature is).
